Why your own tv channels are so unfair bullshiting your about last actions in Georgia? I watched CNN, BBC and Deutsche Welle - everywhere is bullshit. Georgia has attacked first on 8 of august and georgian troops have killed more than 2000 civil Osetian people!!!!! Russian troops are trying to save civil people, Russia is not invader.  Why your army helps georgians killing civil people, equpping them with weapon? Why US hates Russia so much? Can somebody tell me.

Its conflict over the S. Ossetia region, which is an autonomous region of Georgia, that is more pro-Russian. I believe Georgia had originally attacked and sent troops and others into the region, Russia subsequently responded with tanks and warplanes. When asked if they were at war, the Georgian president responded by saying that they were now acting self-defense and that the Russians were attacking and aiming at civilians.

Senseless, bloody conflict that needs to end.

It needs a li'l bit of history of 20th century before forming an opinion.

Russia and the other14 republics in USSR had their constitution in such away that there is a 4-tier hierarchy of nationalities and sub-nationalities. Each of these had autonomy tailored to their aspirations that preserved their individuality and identity within the structure on certain common and broad principles. The arrangement worked well in USSR. But with its dissolution a Pandora's box got opened.

One such nationality is 'Ossetia', which for some obscure reason is partly in Russian federation (N. Ossetia) and the other in the contiguous region within Georgian sovereignty and jurisdiction as S.Ossetia. Georgia is obliged (mandated) to maintain Ossetian autonomy. But She chose to incorporate that territory as Georgian territory. S. Ossetia were compelled to look towards their compatriots in N.Ossetia of Russian federation as has been solemnly laid down in USSR and some of them even want to join them. It is the turn of Russia to ensure the autonomy of S. Ossetia. Georgia has this reason to defy what they feel as Russian hegemony and switch for American interference and indulgence. Now it is global power play reminiscent of cold war days.

The same type of problem is there in 'Abkhazia', the other autonomous republic in georgia, sprawled along the Black Sea coast. The area is hardly measures upto less than tenth of the area of Russian Federation the largest country in the world, but will come substantially in enhancing the territory of Georgia.

This is the fate of small countries. I think they should take the lead from EU. Accretion of equi sized small countries to form a political conglomerate taking care to leave no territorial gaps that might be future wedges in their territory would be a welcome step.
