What the h**l is going on with this electric meter??!!

Hi everyone,im abit stuck on this.2 months ago I had an electric meter fitted cos I was struggling to pay big bills,this I found alot easier as I was in control of my electric spending,im with E-On and have a little Key Card thing that I use to put credit on it,anyway it as been fine since I have had it put it,no problems at all apart from yesterday when I put more credit on,the credit is dropping dramatically for no reason and I have also noticed that I was originally on RATE 1 ,now I am on RATE 4??I have tried getting hold of E-On but as usual im stuck in endless ques and can't get hold of anyone,as anybody else had the same problem?I can't afford for it to be dropping like that,its ridiculous. Did you have an outstanding balance on your account when you had the key meter fitted? Did they apply this "debt" to the meter? That could be a reason. A lot of people pay their debts off in this way if they can't afford to do otherwise. So you could pay £2 a week off for example. Now, if you only put money on your meter say once every two weeks then it would take £4 off at once.

Not sure what is meant by Rate 4 though. I do think you should try to call e.on. Try to call them at the less busy times, which tend to be around 11 am, 2 pm or 8 pm (depending on how they open). Also: recently they had huge numbers of people calling them trying to cap their tariffs so that might be why they have been unsusually busy!

If you never paid that small debt then I am 90% sure that they applied it to your meter. I recommend you call them - it is the best way to find out for sure.
