  1. My chemistry teacher and I had a long investigation about this. Mostly, it does nothing. She's even written to the company to ask them to scientifically explain what it does, but they gave her a long spiel with nothing proving that the ionic button does anything. Thus, it's just another way for the hair product companies to squeeze more money out of you.

  2. Ionic products are supposed to change negative ions to positive ions, thus drying your hair faster and leaving the hair shinier.  I also have a couple of ionic tools at work, and can't tell much difference in the results.  Personally, I just think that it's the new fad that will be gone as soon as another fad becomes popular.

  3. I'm always amazed by the technology women need ;) so I tried to find out what it does.

    Wikipedia says:

Many [blowdryers] also feature "ionic" operation, to reduce the amount of static electricity build-up in the hair. Manufacturers also claim this makes the hair "smoother".

Static electricity is the kind that makes your hair stand up, or create little crackling sounds when you brush it.

  4. It will produce superheated ions that will vaporize your head like a ray gun. Your blowdryer is a trick the aliens are playing on you.
