  1. Italian no longer has their own currency, Lira, since 1st January 2002, the Euro currency is legal tender in Italy and in 13 other EU countries.

Infos on all Euro coins can be found here:

    Euro banknotes:

    Greetings from Germany....

  2. EURO

  3. The Italian name fo the coin that tourists through into the Trevi fountain is 'monetina' or even better, in our slang, 'soldo'.

The lyric of the famous Italian song Arrivederci Roma (Good bye Rome) read :

.....e mentre il soldo bacia il Fontanone ....

.....and while the coin kisses the big fountain....

(Fontanone is how is called the Trevi's Fountain by residents)

    However 'moneta' is the standard Italian for coin (let's say a value of € 2, € 1, € 0,50)  while we call  'monetina'  a coin of a lower value ( as € 0,20 - € 0,10 - € 0,05 and less).

You can see all of them throught into the Fountain....

.....depending on the visitors' budget !!

  4. Now we've Euro like other E.U. countries

    Un bacio dall'Italia

  5. the italian for coin is "monetina"...

in the trevi fountain you can find the coins of a lot of countries...

    a kiss from Italy...

  6. Euro metal coin
