Postive:  preschool and child care experiences provide socialization for your child.  They also provide some structured learning time to help your child become accustomed to it before starting elementary school.  They may also provide wonderful learning activities and experiences that your child may not have the opportunity to experience at home.

Negative:  A parent is the child's first and most influential and important teacher, ALWAYS!  Less time with the parent is not necessarily good.  A poor quality preschool or child care experience may give your child a negative impression about school.  Some children are over-whelmed by a busy preschool experience and gain more being at home with their parent rather than in a busier setting.

If you are considering these experiences for your child, be picky and choose wisely!  You are your child's primary advocate so take your time and choose carefully.

It is good for a child to learn to socialise without you so it is not left out at school later on in life.

If it does this in a controlled, safe, caring environment such as Pre-school it is more likely to be confident and outgoing.

In the UK there are vouchers available to help with costs for the 3 to 5 yr range.

The main negative is the parent feels guilty for leaving the child and this passes onto the child, Making it clingy and fretful.

Positive ~ Preschool introduces common social skills, early math & english skills & is more fun than being confined to a house.

Negetaive ~ Child care costs & isn't always as good as it should be. Some children are really emotional about not being in a familiar place. & Some kids just arent ready.
