Gazzetta dello Sport reported Pierluigi Collina’s support for goal-line referees in international and domestic football. UEFA Chief Refereeing Officer went on to state that the step taken by FIFA, after UEFA’s successful trials at club and the European Championships
on goal-line referees is a step in the right direction.
Collina is a supporter of introducing technology into the game of football to put an end to controversial decisions in the game of football. Sulley Muntari’s disallowed goal against Juventus is still touted by Massimiliano Allegri as the reason behind Juve’s
Scudetto success.
Having goal line referees makes the decisions of awarding goals and penalties much easier for the match referee.
