  1. * Talk to trusted friends or relatives. It's a useful way to articulate your anxious thoughts or negative feelings. It can also give you a fresh perspective on a situation.

    * Write down any specific situations you are anxious about. Take one problem and break it down into parts, ranking them in order of importance. Work out a solution for each task and when to complete it. Writing about your negative thoughts and feelings may also be helpful. This could be in the form of a diary. Challenge each negative point by thinking of a positive point.

    * Anxiety can stem from a lack of self-confidence. So it may help you to improve your assertiveness or to attend a self-assertiveness class to improve your interpersonal skills.

    * It can be useful to acknowledge your worst fears about a worrying situation. Try to consider how to react to a worst-case scenario. This will help you see how unlikely such a bad outcome really is. In this way you can increase the sense of being able to cope, and lessen your anxieties.

    * Find ways to challenge and confront the things that you are anxious about that do happen. This will empower you.

If you feel that your anxiety is controlling your life i think it's best that you go to your GP and they will refer you to the correct mental health specialist e.g Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

  2. There are a number of effective therapies to correct destructive thought patterns..... see a therapist.

  4. Try some meditation / relaxtion techniques. They really help!

  5. I have the same problem. What I do is, any time a negative thought pops into my head or I berate myself for something I did years ago, I tell myself "it's over, no one cares anymore." I immediately think of something else - something good about myself - anything to get my mind off the bad thoughts.

It's also good to sing a song or recite a poem (either in your head or out loud) because you have to remember the words and it forces you to focus on that song/poem.

People suggested therapy, but how about just talking to a friend or your parents? You don't have to pay someone to listen to you.

Pills are not the answer to everything. Please remember that.

Prescribed medications are no better than "illegal" drugs (i.e. heroin & cocaine.)

YOU have to change the way you think/live, a pill is not a magical tablet that will suddenly make you "normal".

Only you, yourself, can change your life.

I wish you luck. From someone who knows exactly what you're going through. I know it's hard, and it will take a while to stop thinking negatively but you can do it.

    Good luck.

  6. Focus on your senses.  Bring your mind into a very small focus such as looking at or imagining a favorite picture, lighting a candle, touch something (arm of the chair or seam on jeans), pop a very strong mint.  Concentrate on grounding yourself with where you really are and what is around you at that instant.

Also, practice any kind of meditation or "daydreaming" until you get faster at getting into a relaxed state of mind.  By practicing ahead of time, it should slowly get easier and faster to control or reduce the difficulty of the attack.

At least, this is the latest thing I'm trying and it seems to be working.

Do not be ashamed of taking medication for a while.  It can help until you master focus techniques

    Take care

  7. make a picture in your mind of a favourite place where you enjoyed being, then build on it, put your self there then add friends if you want, then add sounds. I like the beach so I close my mind to everything that is getting to much and I lay on the beach listening to the sounds around me....the waves breaking on the shoreline, the seagulls squawking..the salty smell..the breeze on my cheek. I stay there in my mind for as long as it takes for my breathing to slow down and for ME to be in control again. Good luck!

  8. firstly, stay away from any negative things, eg unhelpful tv progs, books, mags etc. secondly, find a group to join that has fun together, walking groups, nature groups, local church ,/ youth groups. find some friends who are for you, not running you down. you don't say what kind of anxiety order you have, but it's always a good idea to have someone to talk to. on here is just a beginning. you are a living being. you are wonderfully made. incredibly valuable and God loves you so much. x

  9. CBT, DBT and Ativan

  10. I get rid of my heagitive thoughts with medication, Lexapro and Wellbutrin.  If you feel you have anxiety "disorder," then you need to see a doctor.
