  1. You could try VATSIM.

VATSIM is a worldwide organisation which provides online ATC services to flight simulator enthusiasts. They expect you to learn the rules, but they also guide you through the whole process. You can act as a ground or tower controller at airports of varying size, or become a centre controller, directing airliners along the approved airways. All of the voices you hear will be real people – either controllers or pilots (the latter mostly using Microsoft Flight Simulator). Both sorts of users come from all over the world. All you need is a PC, microphone and speakers (or a suitable headset). The software needed to act as a controller is free.

  2. What a strange question but that sounds like fun!!

    Can I come and play??

  3. Well, you have two main categories of equipment and supply. Signal and Observation.

For signals, you need radio transmitters and recievers, some display screens for radar, weather, situational awareness displays, maybe a light gun to back up your radios if they go down. maps, unit trackers (the big board), multiple phone lines and definitely get a phone that is red. They always have the emergency red phone.

for Observation, you definitely need some binoculars, and um...radar?

  4. Join VATSIM (http://www.vatsim.net), download their free ATC radar simulation software, and you can learn to be an air traffic controller and control other pilots on a virtual flight network right from the PC in your room.  Great fun!

  5. Probably a Kettle and a coffee machine!!!

    Sorry, couldn't resist.
