What things should I do—I have just four days in London?

I'm visiting in late August from Canada and want to experience something other than the usual touristy stuff. If I'm legging it around the city, what places should I visit?

My favourite London walk,  for legging it (see map (URL2))

Queensway Tube,  Kensington Gardens, via Round pond to Hyde Park , Serpentine, (Diana Memorial) Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, down Constitution Hill, cross the front of Buckingham Palace, St James's Park to Parliament square.

If then "legged out" catch a river trip from Westminster pier

(nearby, about where the A3211 sign is on the map) at least to Tower Bridge or a three hour return out to Greenwich or the Thames Barrier and back (take a pack lunch)...  Some of the best London views and photo-shots.

You could do a lot with that time.

I recommend you buy an Oyster card when you get to London-it allows pre-paid travel on the Underground or Buses and they are very simple to use.

I would recommend you go and see a good play if you get the chance, but also recommend seeing the Thames and going on the London Eye. these are touristy, but the London Eye does give (on a nice day) a beautiful view of the city that you might not get elsewhere.

Camden Town in North London is a great spot to see some of the stranger locals. Tea at the savoy is also pretty cool. It's under 10 quid, along the Strand (embankment tube station) and also where the end of Notting Hill was filmed with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.

If you're visiting in August there's this great open air theatre near London Bridge station. The views are amazing and the plays are great.  They do it every summer.Just hold thumbs that it doesn't rain.  I can get more info if you're interested.
