  1. My friend's dad used to organize scavenger hunts for us. It was always a lot of fun, especially when we started driving. He would send us halfway across the county to look for the only item in a specific 7-11 that cost $.85 or something ridiculous like that. It was fun.

Anyway, for the mall, an idea could be to take advantage of as much free stuff as possible. I don't know what the budget is, but you don't want to purchase expensive items unnecessarily for the game. I would split into teams and whatever couldn't be purchased, your friends could use a digital camera to take a picture of the item. Maybe you could do an A to Z scavenger hunt as a theme. "A" could be apple, and your friends could find anything from an apple-filled doughnut to an Apple iPhone. Let them use their creativity.

For a 13th birthday, you could ask that your friends find as many items as possible with the number 13 on them for a bonus. You could use that as a tie-breaker, or make it a separate prize. Or choose your favorite color and make the girls find as many outfits as possible in that color, and try them on! So, if your favorite color is purple, then they must find a store that carries purple shoes, laces, socks, pants, skirt, tie, shirt, tank top, hat, earrings, scarf, accessories, etc... try it on and take a picture. The team with the person that has the most purple stuff on, wins the bonus!

Also, you may want to provide bags for the girls, so they can fill them with the items. Discuss ahead of time how many cameras you have available. That will help with how many teams there will be. Make sure you get a nice prize for the winning team.

Here's a list of free stuff to pick up at the mall:

    Coupons

    Flyers

Restaurant Napkin, empty cup, discount card (one of those "buy 5, get 1 free" type of cards)

    Food sample

Nylon samples from shoe stores (the things that look like the end of stockings)

    Job application

    Etc...

Good luck, be careful, and have lots of fun!

  2. Are you part of the hunt or are you providing a list for your friends to find stuff?  Do you want them going into stores or just looking around the mall itself?

What a really cute idea.  I think having certain items to wear such as shoes or hats...something easy...then items that would be for sale like cookies or have them find a store with 3 or more words in the title...find an item that costs more than $300, find a sports hat with an animal as it's logo, get a different scent of perfume on each wrist, try on 3 different color hats, try on three different kinds of shoes, buy a certain type of toy, wow there are so many things in the malls...

You could even ask them to find names of employees at the stores...name tag of course...no talking to them needed.

I don't know, are any of these helpful?  Good luck!
