  1. Wood

    Metal

    Plastic

    Citrus peels, banana peels

    Hard pits like from peaches

    Bones

Fibers from meat - like tendons

What you CAN put down one is any soft vegetable matter and some small amounts of meat or fat scraps.

  2. Most food items are fine as long as you continue to run water when the unit is turned on. Bones are not recommended.

  3. Definitely don't put bones, or utensils, or tin, or metal of any sort. Hope that helps!

  4. Like Rocky says, you can put most anything in there and depending on how powerful your disposer is it will handle it.

Personally I would recommend putting as little as possible in there. You run the risk of serious clogs when tempting fate seeing how much your disposer can take. The disposer can handle most anything but your plumbing was not meant for it.

  5. do not put anything in there "YOU" would not eat yourself.

be sure to run plenty of water while running your disposal and keep the water running a bit afterwards to wash the garbage thoroughly away down the drain.

  6. Dry rice! I had to help clean out one that they had tried to dispose of some old dry rice through the disposer and it got wet, swell up and plugged the whole drain SOLID. We have to dig it out. LOL.

I have seen a couple makes where they DID recommend grinding up chicken bones to clean it out. Heavier bones are not a good idea though.  I don't suggest it though.

They often recommend grinding up ice to clean it out and keep it working well.  You can freeze it up with too much ice but it melts fairly quickly.

And also orange, lemon, or lime peels to make it smell better and that sorta cleans it out.

    Good Luck.

  7. a lot of noodles willclog it up.  You through in ice and grind it in there wil sharpen the blades.  I got it from a household web site but dont remember which one.

  8. You should be able to put any food and bones in there. Some meat Grissel won't do anything but spin around and vibrate. Mine will chew up anything you throw at it but I have an ISE with a 1 horse motor and it reverses. As long as the impellers are free to spin on the plate it should chew up anything. The blades that do the cutting are actually on the basket. There is no way to sharpen them. If the impellers get stuck then they won't do their job very well. Make sure they are free to spin on the rotating plate. They can get stuck.
