  1. you will learn all of the straw-man theories and non sequiturs that make up the intellectual support for the corporatist economic system here in the US. You will learn why giving tax breaks to the rich helps the poor, and also why giving subsidies to large corporations helps the poor, why giving immunity to businesses that give your personal information to the government helps the poor, why letting corporations avoid environmental responsibility helps the poor, why the "war on drugs" helps the poor, why huge CEO salaries and windfall profits help the poor, and also why not helping the poor helps the poor.

If you want to contribute to society, I recomend you study teaching, medicine, science, or engineering.

  2. Micro Economics about consumer, producer, equilibrium

Macro Economics about fiscal, monetary economics, inflation, interest rates, IS-LM

International Economics about trade and balance of payments

Mathematics and Statistics for Business and Finance,

Econometrics, Time series and Regression analysis

    Public Finance

    Development Economics

A few courses in Accounting, Business Management, and Financial management.

  3. AAAA

    WRONG

Don't confuse Bush politics with the entire economic discipline.  To do so will only reveal your ignorance.  There are as many liberal economists as there are conservative economists.

As for contributing to society by studying medicine, ever checked out the modern medical complex?  If you are telling me there is no exploitation, corruption, and conflict of interests between doctors and patients, you are deluding yourself.   It is far from pure.

As for teaching, I know people love to glamourize this profession, but has anybody ever stopped and asked the question of why our primary and elementary school systems are among the worst in the developed countries?  Think long and hard about that before you idealize the profession.  And ask yourself what the social costs are to our children when these teacher unions protect an army of incompetent teachers rather than letting them naturally sort out the profession.

Life is a lot more complex than you think.
