What think you of 'Mary Under Glass'?

'Mary Under Glass' served home-style

By the last, the first, waiter on the aisle

Between the trees of Benediction

Green. Under rain, under fog,

Under night calls booming, screeching,

'Are you hungry, little pain? Do you pray

With muddy fingers, up to Heaven? '

Do you, have you, should you, little

Customer? Linger over cheesecake

Baked today...ask not the leaven,

Or the crust...not what filling...in God

You must trust.

Not the waiter, waiting at Mass...

Scribing 'Special Today' is

'Mary Under Glass'.

  1. Thanks for the reprint...I can't wait to show my friend, a priest. He keeps trying to convert my heathen soul!  I keep telling him to get a real job.

  2. Good one....

    Glad to see ya back....

    ...uh...it's Friday....hope you don't lose anymore days...

    He he he.....

  3. What the heck was that? Elys, today U R wearing a new red southern dress, of the old conservative (socially rebelling) type.I wonder what that southern woman 'd say, after her handsome (priest) had said to her, " Frankly my dear I don't give a d**n". I think she 'd believe in a (potato) cake more than any thing else, never mind her muddy fingers !! Nice .

  4. I like her irony very much, but 20 pages? Sounds like a book to me.

  5. I like the image of that. hehe

  6. And the lamb answers.  Some cynicism I detect, with a questioning, which is always healthy.  Lead me to slaughter but at least tell me why! lol  Shaking them up aren't you?

  7. Why on Earth would you write a 20 page poem? Well, maybe on Mars...

  8. Font size 72 might stretch to 20 pages.  Is this a challenge?  A true poetic novella, or perhaps a 250 page metered rhyming novel....

  9. Love your title, it is so unique and I just really like it! Cheers!!  Nice to see your poetry again!
