What think you of "One Day in the Life of an Ice Age"?

Ice dancing. Tip-toe. Quiet.

Inlay of pebbles, boulders

Moving slow. Slower. Silence.

Mist. Fog. Trance dream.

Still. Waiting. Ice speaks softly.

Smooth crystal. Satin mirror.

Bed of sleek, snow passages.

Blue reflects blue.

Dome clouds drifting soundlessly.

Day filters through crevices.

Ice silk rifting, then tearing

Into splitting

Shudders. Crashing. Ignited

Slabs sparkling, shattering, then

Thrashing. Cracking. Slow. Slower.

Tense dawn. Quiet.

  1. I like.  I like very much.  The visuals are so clear, every word fits beautifully (all excess pared away) and despite my saying this is visual it is also aural....I can definitely hear the silence and then the quiet cracking, and the final rending, back to the silence again.

    Magical

  2. This is why I love you. To be able to see, feel and hear your poems is amazing. Can you send some of that glacial chill to Phoenix?

  3. Read it again, people. It contains too much for one reading.

Find one weak or useless word and I'll treat you to dinner--with drinks!!

  4. Reminds me when I witnessed the chunks falling off a glacier - blues - so many hues - from pale pastel to deep dark - the ice pressure made it darker. And then the "boom" of a chunk breaking off - the sliding into the bay - the splash and swash - now seaborne and floating away. ♥

  5. Simultaneously real and surreal, an engaging piece that I enjoyed.

  6. I could see glaciers adrift and crashing.  Great video and audio in your poem.

  7. Attach yourself to the top of the glacier and then ride for life.

  8. Your descriptive skills always amaze me.  Brava!

  9. "One day"?  An eon covered here and covered well.  Your last line, especially appropriate as the age ended.  Great word choices with punctuation to make it flow! Well, maybe a pun.  I like. My compliments.

  10. Good poem, cold subject, brrr.
