Unrequited Love?

Love affair. Ah, that's

What this madness is...

Pity...Troy weeps.

Marc Antony sleeps.

Diamonds. Ransom.

The same.

God became man.

The Devil became,

Becomes, a woman.

Her love, is love...

Adam second.

Arbitrarily contrary

To boredom. Take

Hemlock, I implore you.

Arteries lead to your

Heart...

Your heart is but a

Garment...

To women.

  1. This is very interesting and the way it is written, since I am relatively new at this, sometimes I have to read it a couple of times for all the emotion to come to me and then when it does it is exciting! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I agree partly, some of the things are correct but others are not. As a man you may think you know which but be careful for you are judging me by yourself.

  3. Definitely (oops, I used a banned word) - I mean absolutely a poem.  Intriguing, convoluted, wise, puzzling....and the echoing rhymes are music to my ears.  "To boredom.  Take Hemlock, I implore you"...love it.

  4. Does it ever change?  lol  The Devil became, becomes a woman...is quite the statement!  Love offered, used and thrown away as a soiled garment.  Well penned.

  5. SOOOOO That's what the Apple Tasted like!!.......WoW!!

Is it a wrap-around or is it full lengtrh.........................

  6. Very nice work E. Very nice.

The logical transition from God becoming man and therefore woman becoming devil is just sublime. (is "sublime" on the banned list?!)

The whole piece is loaded with a veritable plethora of ambiguity and I keep getting different interpretations every time I read it.

The "Her love, is love " (anyone for tennis?) stands alone well enough but when I phase in "love Adam second" it gives me levels that I didn't spot earlier.

Mayhap it's my mood today but I read this a societal comment and not simply a bitter piece. Then again, are you bitter because of the nature of the unrequited love, not simply the love...?

Oh boy oh boy oh boy... I could read this for hours (and probably will!)

This is without question, one of the best that I've read here.

I enjoyed it very much and think I'll be coming back to it for many more re-reads.

    Simply great.

    Well done.

    D!

PS Excuse my rambling but this is my edited answer!

  7. Love the first two lines....do we really need the rest?!

  8. another blue dress po---

....and I  remember when we were notches on belts.

this is  classic .. good for you !

  9. What is this thing called Love? (in your preferred emphasis)

"Unrequiet" love it is not. lol Wanders the halls of history and ends up ringing the icecream van bells for me to the tune of Greensleeves.

Bitterness definitely ie........bitter this, bitter that and bitter the other...variety keeps the message fresh. Well composed.

  10. The clue is in the love "affair."  Love is not permanent; man or woman can become as a soiled garment, irreparable, which can only be discarded.  I have been fortunate, but there are many who wish the former lover would take a shot of Hemlock before the night has passed. (Po ends in em as always).
