  1. Could the skeleton keys be crossed flags?

If so it is some kind of Signal patch.

Try going the the link to see if you find it.

If it is on the pocket you may never find out exactly what it is. Lot's of pocket patch's were made over the years, all the way down to platoon level meaning few people would know what unit they belonged to.

    Edit:

Looks like there is not end to my avoiding cleaning up here.

I found that patch at the 2nd link. It bleongs to the 177th Military Police detacthment. It was active from 1966 - Mar 1973 (that was when the last of the combat troops and POW's came back from Viet Nam) That jacket may have seen some fun in Viet Nam depending on it's age.

They were reactived in 1998 and are at Ft. Drum NY with the 10th Mt (Light)

    SSG US Army 73-82

  2. Usually the skeleton keys represent some sort of intellegence unit.

I'm not sure what it is exactly, but before you wear the jacket, it would be nice if you take it off :D

  3. Brown and cream for colours and crossed keys are Quartermasters Corps. (supply)

If they have black on it they deal with petroleum. (fuel)

If there is brick red they are involved in transportation.

Yes they have M.P.units in the Quartermasters Corps too

After all, somebody has to guard the store.
