If you look at the flags for Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador, they all have the same three colors -- yellow, blue and red.  Colombia just has the three horizontal stripes, Venezuela has the stripes plus an arch of stars, and Ecuador's flag has the stripes plus a crest in the center.  The reason their flags are all so similar is because they used to belong to New Granada.
