Question:

What time do you think I could run my 800 in my senior year?

well I'm a freshman and my best time all year was a 2:08 (thats an open time not a relay)

I'm 5'11" and 140 lbs... im pretty thin

I'm also goin out for cross country for the first time ever this fall

I am also serious about running (so I train in the off season)

so.. what time do you think I could run my senior year

  1. well im a senior now but i run the 400 and a little 800. I never did cross country because i play soccer. But as a freshman i was 5'1 95lbs running 63 second 400m and a 2:29 800. This year as a senior im 5'10 135 and a i run a 51.0 400m and a 2:03 800. Its all about the way your body grows and how much effort you put forth. If make bad decisions along the way like smoking, drinking, eating poorly etc. your times may not come. If you put in effort and do the workouts your coach gives you as well as get in the weight room you could break 2 minutes. It sounds like you may be done growing height wise though.


  2. I've seen runners improve greatly from the beginning of their careers, but I've also seen runners run the same time every race.  If I were to wager a guess, I'd say that you might trim 10 seconds by the end of your senior year.
