What time does AM rush hour start in Chicago?

Question

We are traveling from Rockford with a final destination in Ohio the Friday of Labor Day weekend. It is about 1 hour from our house to O'Hare. If we leave at 4 AM will we miss most of the really bad AM traffic? Also, is it best to stay on I-90 during this time?

The best route is to take 39 South to 74 East and don't worry about chicago traffic.

If you are going into Chicago at that time you will be in before the rush hour.  Working hours of start and stop times have changed so they are staggered  so rush hour is pretty much all day now.
