  1. right after sunset about 8:30

  2. This website will give you the information for your geographic area:

  3. Depends on the time of year.

  4. It's the time of day between day and night when the sun goes down in the west and the light is dimmer than it was during the day, and before the moon is shining.  It is different times of day within the "time zones", i.e.  it might begin about 6:42 p.m. and last until the moon comes up, within Central standard time, but the sun would still be bright in the Picific Standard time zone, etc., etc.

That, of course is only in summer and within the constraints of the period specified by the government, daylite savings time, etc., etc.

So, yep, it is dependent on a lot of "things" like the "time zones", and changes in "time" done by outside sources, etc., etc.  But it's still the period of time between day and night  when the "light" is dimmer than it was during the day, and after the sun goes down in the west and before the moon becomes bright.  It can sometimes last a long time period.

  5. If you go to Yahoo Weather and type in your zip code, it will show you what time sunset is for your town.  The time will change every day as the days get shorter.  As others have said, it is different depending where you are in your time zone and your latitude.

For me, today, sun sets at 7:45 PM.  For you, it will be a different time.

After sunset, there is still visible light in the western sky.  This is called twilight and lasts for about half an hour.  Dusk is defined as the last stages of that period of twilight.  So it follows sunset by about half an hour.  It is the last rays of the sun hitting the upper atmosphere to our west as the Earth spins toward the east.  I say it is about a half an hour, but the actual time difference between sunset and dusk will also vary according to your latitude.

(It has nothing to do with the moon, as one responder indicated.)

    Hope that helps.

  6. Dusk is the time period between when the sun totally disappears below the horizon and when the sky becomes totally dark.
