What time of day is the least windy?

Question

I play Ultimate in the evenings, and the wind is a real factor in the difficulty and enjoyment of the game. Is there a time of day that is the least windy?

I'm on the Pacific coast, Sacramento, California, if that matters. Approximately 100 miles east of the ocean.

wind is the result of the sun's uneven heating of the earth, therefore first thing in the morning is the best time for calm air.

On average, overnight (several hours after sunset) through late morning or Noon is the least windy time of the day.  During the day, the sun serves to mix the earth's atmosphere and allow wind from higher in the atmosphere to reach the surface.  Without the sun, the atmosphere returns to more of an equilibrium state overnight where winds are lighter on average.  This typically lasts through late morning.  However, the passage of weather systems can often times disrupt this average cycle.  For instance, with low pressure systems, it is likely to be windy the entire day, while with high pressure systems you are more likely to find times where winds are light, even in the middle of the day.  I guess because of the chaotic nature of the atmosphere, there's no clear answers...but if you were able to play Ultimate in the early morning inteady of the evenings, you might have better luck.

I live in Sacramento as well and it seems most of our Delta Breezes come in the evening and last through out the night, but that is not always the case. It just vary's with the jet stream and where it decides to go. They said today and tomorrow are suppose to be very winy with winds coming from the North.
