I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I specifically mean in the American South.

  1. Cotton is harvested from October to December.

  2. Sounds like summer/autumn depending on planting:

Cotton requires about 155 days of growth from planting to harvest in Florida.

Bolls set in mid-summer are usually larger and mature in 40 to 50 days, while the bolls set in August can take 60 days or longer to mature and often contribute little to final yield if the crop had a normal fruiting season. Those late flowers look attractive and may give the appearance of adding to the final yield of the crop, but should not be given preference over the fruit that was set during the first 3 to 4 weeks of bloom.

  3. next year
