I am going to canada on monday and I need to know what time I should cross the bridge to avoid traffic.

Is the lewiston-queenston bridge quicker or the rainbow bridge?

Is there a website with like an traffic report telling me what time of day has the least traffic?? or can you just tell me from personal experience??

thanx

  1. The Lewiston-Queenston bridge is usually not faster. It only has 7 inspections lanes at the border stations on both sides so it usually takes longer to get through all the traffic, and a lot of people take that because they expect it to be faster as it's in a more isolated area but it usually ends up being longer.

The Rainbow Bridge can be faster depending on the time of day, it has 18 lanes into the US and 15 into Canada. The travelers who plan on using the highways to other places don’t use it since it’s not connected to any major highway, so most of the travelers on it are tourists traveling between Niagara Falls, ON and Niagara Falls, NY. The busiest time on the Rainbow Bridge is usually during the afternoon, especially on a weekend. It’s usually quiet after 5 pm, and quiet in the early morning.

The Peace Bridge has 18 lanes going into the US and 19 going into Canada, it's mostly for travelers using the highway to other cities. You can view the border cam from the Peace Bridge website but it's not working for right now, hopefully they'll fix it.
