  1. It's not about what time to get up, it's about how much sleep he's getting.  If there's no reason he needs to get up, I would just let him sleep because kids going through growth spurts (which he may be) need more sleep.  If he does need to be up at a certain time, the night before make sure he'll be getting enough sleep, 8-10 hours.

  2. It depends on what time he goes to bed.  I'm assuming that you're talking about the fact that it's summer vacation, and he's sleeping too late.

If he goes to bed at a reasonable hour (but of course, later than on school nights) you should be able to get him up whenever you wish.   For a 10-year-old, I'd let him stay up until 10:00, then wake him at 9:00 AM.   He'll be getting plenty of sleep, but still not wasting the whole morning in bed.

  3. What time does his alarm go off?  What time does he need to be up in order to get ready for school?

  4. 8 am is a good time to start the day for any one... i believe its a good thing for kids to be on a shedual.. My 11 year old is in bed no later that 11 in the summer.. 9 on school nights and she is up before 8am.. on her own

  5. My daughter is 7 and the latest I let her sleep on a Saturday is 8:30 a.m.  That's rare though.  Usually it's 8 a.m.  But during the week, my kids are up at 6:15 a.m. because I work.  So, I let her sleep a little later on weekends.
