  1. Look up the sunset time in the Farmer's Almanac and start the ceremony about a half hour before the projected time. I would serve a meal if you expect guests to be there at dinner time or later. Good summer foods with lots of fresh fruit and veggies and salads and ligth desserts. YUM!

    Good luck!

  2. Six is great. Have cocktails right after for your guests while you do photos, then have the dinner at 7:30 or 8. Yes, full meal, buffet is best.

  3. if you are doing a ceremony at 6 you need to offer a full dinner.

  4. Outdoor weddings can be lovely, but you must consider the weather, wind and rain in your preparations.  You should be able to get help with the weather in your area on the web, try weatherbug, it works for me.  As to what to serve, that would depend on your budget.  There are family and religious considerations as well.  Discuss this with your caterer.  They will be able to give you good advice, as this is, after all, their job.

  5. Sunset during October for Florida is around 6-6:30.  So a ceremony at 6 or even 5:30 would be good.  If you do the meal at 7, I would do a full meal as this is dinner time.

    Where in Florida?

  6. I live in Florida and during that time of the year it gets darker earlier, like you said around 6/6:30. I would say a reception at 7 doesn't have to be a full meal. People could be informed that it will be cocktails and Hors D'oeuvres and maybe a dessert bar. You can do drinks, finger foods and maybe a couple desserts. The only thing is, are you getting married at a hotel or something because most places will have specific meal plans they will want you to get or at least a certain amount of money you have to spend. I am getting married on the beach here in November and I have to spend a certain amount (though it could be in hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and alcohol if I wanted). In reference to what another person said about the rain here. It rains until usually September even though we are very unpredictable. I am nervous about November but it rarely rains from late October until Spring. Here I just found this - http://www.floridasmart.com/sciencenatur...

  7. Well, you will probably want to check the almanac.  You will need to see what time the sun sets at that time of year to time it right.  Also check the weather because my wedding is also in Florida and I wanted to have it at sunset but they have afternoon showers almost daily between 4-6 so everyone advised me not to look at those times (or right after) for an outdoor wedding.  But those may be over by the fall, I'm not sure, just look into it.

Yes, if you are having the wedding at dinnertime, you need to serve a full dinner.
