What time to watch the perseid meteor shower

for the perseid meteor shower on 8/12/2008, does it start 8/12 morning which is around 1-5 am or 8/13 1-5 am morning?

Careful...

JastAsk says the night of the 12th.

Actually it peaks the morning of the 12th. The moon is setting sometime after midnight, then the sky will be dark and the show should go on till dawn.

Don't forget the possible 'skimmers' late evening (9pm or so and later) of the 11th.

The Perseids meteor shower is going on constantly for about a month and peaking the night of August 12th.  Just find a spot at night away from the city any time after the moon sets and enjoy!
