  1. Ususally higher division teams post consideration on qualifying times to get on the team.  For example, the University of South Carolina has a list of times that you need to achieve to get on the team, and they have those times posted on their website.... I believe Clemson does it, too.  So for each college, it changes depending on their expectations of the team, their division, how fast they are, etc. so to get times for a college you want, it might take a little bit of research.

    hope i helped! =]

  2. You aren't going to get to the Air Force Academy on a swimming scholarship. To get into a service academy you need to get nominated by your congressman. I suppose demonstrating that you'd be able to contribute to the swim team would help boost your application, but you've got lots more hoops to jump through than that.

Each school is different, and it really depends on what the coach and athletic director want. For example, I swam at  Division I school when the program was going through a rough spot. I walked on, and earned a partial scholarship. At the same time, there were a couple women swimming for the team that probably wouldn't have made my high school's varsity squad. But they can rightly claim that they swam for a D-I school. They didn't letter, but they were on the team.

BTW - Division III schools do not offer athletic scholarships. You easily can swim for any D-III school you want -- you just won't get any $$$ for it.

  3. Depends on whether you're talking about D-I or D-III schools.  But you can go to NCAA.org and see the results of nationals for each division.  Those, of course, are the fastest times in the country.  You could also go to the websites of a few colleges and see what times are posted by their swimmers.
