I am going for a 2nd interview with a Neurology doctors practice tomorrow am and I wanted to know of any tips to get through this. Not the basic what to wear, etc. But specific tips related to speaking with him directly. And I'm applying for medical billing which I've done for 4 years. I also need to mention in the interview that I need one day off in Sept. for a court hearing. Any suggestions on both of these please? Thanks!!!!!!

  1. I would write down what the doctor is looking for, and how you can bring that to the practice on a piece of paper just to go over in the interview, also I would list the qualities you have as an experienced medical biller, and have them in the back of your mind so you can use them to up sell yourself in the interview..

I wouldn't mention needing a day off for court, because that will lead them to wonder why ect.. I would wait to see if you got the job, and then explain that you have an obligation on _____ date, even pretend it is another doc's appointment or something...

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. First, I agree about not mentioning needing the day off. You don't normally mention needing time off at an interview. Wait until you get an offer before mentioning it, and even then, all you have to say is that you have some personal business scheduled for that day.

It is possible that you will be asked something like whether there will be any problems with coming to work every day. If so, then you can say, "I do have some personal business already scheduled for Sept. x, but other than that I expect to be at work every day."

So... what would the neurologist be looking for that would be different than the office manager? Well, the doctor probably owns the practice, so he probably wants some say over who he will be hiring and working with. Probably he just wants to meet you and make sure you fit with him and in his office. He may quiz you about neurology billing, how you relate to patients and insurance companies, and your work ethic, but again, probably more for fit.
