  1. Your smooth ride is mostly determined by the shocks/struts and springs you have on your car. For a smooth ride you want the ones that have a "softer" rate or are designed for touring. If you go this route, get it done by a professional. This is a dangerous job that requires special tools.

As for tires...I love Pirelli Cinturato P3000 tires. I had set on my Volvo 240. It didn't really make the ride smoother but it made the car handle far better plus excellent traction wet or dry. I don't have the Volvo anymore. It was sadly traded for a Toyota Corolla. Don't me wrong I like the Corolla but I still miss my Volvo and its little quirks. Anyway, the Corolla came stock with a set of Goodyear Integrity tires (185/165/15). They do ride smooth BUT they have poor traction wet and dry. The treadlife is also VERY short. Mine were showing wires at 25,000 miles without any agressive driving. I replaced them with the Pirelli Cinturatos, been great ever since.

  2. Basically any straight tread passenger tire. A tire with all the tread going in the same direction. Anything else is for traction and will give you the added noise. I sold Mastercraft tires and cooper. mastercraft were a very reliable tire with a road hazard package and very reasonalbly priced. Cooper was a very good tire also but a little higher priced.

  3. Bridgestone or BFG's will do the trick and get the alignment done as well.
