What to Expect at AIT or what is AIT Like? Fort Rucker, AL, It is not like basic, their are no drill sergents, it is supposed to simulate your duty station, you have three phases, 1st is phase 4, 2nd is phase 5, and 3rd is phase 5 , you dont get yelled at like basic or get smoked like in basic, you will get smoked if you f*** up a lot, you do have your formations in the mornings, afternoon, and evening, you will be put into a builden that is like a college dorm, usually 2 to a room, you do have tvs in the common area of every builden, your personal time is after 530p, you can bring your laptop, you will need to get internet, most likley wireless throught your cell phone provider, you can also bring your cell phone, the only thing they take from you when you get here is your cilivialn cloths, and that is till you hit phase 5, you do have morning PT mon-thur, to best explan it, it is like going to colledge with the military bearing and rules, it is not bad so dont beat your self up about coming, you will realize it is much better than you will ever expect till you get here, you can sign out on the weekends and go to the px, bowling, store, ect. good luck, I was here in July, 2008

What's the question here? LoL. What a person's AIT is like depends GREATLY on what their M.O.S. actually IS. The more dangerous jobs like Infantry and Combat Engineer are MUCH different. I enlisted as a combat engineer, and A.I.T. was like basic training only WORSE.  

   Is that way for a reason.  No offense intended, but the more tame jobs like supply are less likely to be thrown into the meat grinder, so there's no point in making training overly difficult. With combat arms jobs, the training is more intense as a conditioning for what to expect on an operational setting.
