Question:

What to See in Germany (suggestions)?

We're planning on starting in Frankfurt and going in somewhat of a circle until we end in Frankfurt again. I'd really appreciate any suggestions of places to go and things to do along the way.

Here's the tentative plan:

begin in Frankfurt

go to Kalkar

(From here we were contemplating visiting the Netherlands. Any tips of what to see across the border?)

perhaps visit Hamburg

Berlin?

Leipzig

Any tips of what to see/do in the south?

End in Frankfurt

Any help would be appreciated!

  4. There's plenty to see in Germany.  I use to live there years ago for 3 years. You can visit the their museums, castles and don't forget the salt mines.  Good Luck!

  5. I have always dreamed of seeing Neuschwanstein castle.

  6. the berlin wall

  7. Regarding the Netherlands: how far are you planning to go into the country? A must-see city would of course be Amsterdam, but it isn't situated at the border (by car or train about 1,5 to 2 hours from the German border). A beautiful border town worth visiting would be Maastricht (Aachen is the closest German city on the other side of the border). Lots of medieval charm, cosy pubs and restaurants, good food, beautiful old houses and sites....

    Enjoy!

  8. Go to munich. It is such a gorgeous city. You'll love it. Great shpping and it's just a really beautiful place

  10. Bavaria is just beautiful..there are so many beautiful castles to see. Neuschwanstein is also beautiful. Or if you can, try to go to the "Rhein in Flames" from Koblenz down the Rhein river...it is a river cruise and there are many different boats and cruises but there are fireworks displays and the castles that you float by are illuminated with lights. Some cruises include dinner. It is a fun thing to do. Here is a link.
