  1. A few hints when cruising to Mexican ports...

    - Take along a good supply of $1, 5 and 10 in US dollars for taxis, shopping in the markets, tips for shore excursion staff

    - recommend water shoes if you are going to the beaches.

    - Bargain with the vendors in the open air markets.  If they say an item is $30, offer them $20 and go from there.  Is is a part of the experience.  Notable...this does not work in the stores in the mall type shopping areas.

    - A large canvas bag to carry your towels, clothes, etc. when going on shore excursions.  The canvas bag should either have a zipper pocket for your $$ or  a small purse to hide in the bag.

    - A lanyard is convenient to carry your ship id.  They will punch holes in it at pursers desk or shops.

    - a power strip...most cruise ship cabins only have one outlet

    - extra swimsuits...they never dry out and who likes to put on a wet swimsuit.

    - Mark the handles of your luggage with brightly colored yard or ribbon or plastic marking tape.  It will help you find it in the cruise terminal upon debarkation.

    - carry your valuables, mediciene and anything you might want before midnight in your carry on luggage.  But don't carry anything in your carry on you don't want the world to see. Carry on luggage is subject to search.

    - Those XXXL ziplock bags are great for storing dirty clothes.

    - Limit the number of shoes...they take up alot of room and there is limited storage in your cabin.

    - Most cruise lines provide shampoo & body wash but it is not of high quality.  Take your own if you don't like the generic stuff.

    - Take long plenty of shorts, capris, skorts, tees and tanks.  A few little dresses for the evenings and you will be good to go.

  2. well for dinner you will need appropriate outfits. the dining room code is no jeans but some people don't dress up and still wear jeans. in my opinion it's nicer to dress up. i usually wear sundresses every night. there will be one or two formal nights depending upon the length of your cruise so bring a nice dress.

    for everything else...

    tons of swimwear.

a cover up (for when you want to eat on the lido deck).

    sunscreen.

    walking shoes.

  3. Condoms and sunscreen

  4. Actually the cruise line gives suggestions...ask your travel agent. Mexico is Hot so nice casual cool cruisewear is nice. Comfortable shoes if you're doing sightseeing. We climbed the Mayan ruins. Usually there are1 or 2  formal nights where you will need a fancy dress and your boyfriend a suit. Bathing suits and don't forget the sun tan lotion, a coverup and flip flops. Have a great time...

  5. What to bring: flip flops, suntan lotion, sunglasses, visor, bottle opener. Be sure to upload a few extra songs on your MP3 player. Margaritaville, The Ketchup Song, Mambo #5, any other party songs you like.

You don't need to bring shampoo or cream rince, these items are provided.

Go to cruisecritic.com. Joing is free and there is a wealth of information. If you click on boards, you can find your cruise line, then your ship, then your sail date. You can communicate with other people going on your same cruise. We are getting a sail away party organized. We're all going to wear lei's so we know who is a cruisecritic member. Last Feb, we wore Marti Gras beads. We had a ball.

    Bon Voyage!!!
