What to bring on an overnight camping trip?

I have never gone "camping-camping"; you know with the tents, the fire, sleeping bags, etc. I've always stayed in a cabin or hotel. Now I am going on a camping trip with my best friend and her family and i truthfully don't know WHAT to pack.

We are going to be outside during the warm summer nights, sleeping in tents, and we have to walk|hike to the bathroom where she told me had frogs...

what do i pack and do you have any advice.

THIS IS FOR A WEEK. (:

thanks so much!

  1. You need to pack enough clothing for however many days you'll be gone, including a combination of things for warm and chilly conditions.

Bring comfy shoes for walkin, and something like flip flops to lounge around in. Tennis shoes are hot! Don't forget some extra socks and stuff.

I would also make sure I had a pair of old flip flops to wear in the camp showers.

When I go camping I like to bring a plastic bag to put all my dirty clothes in. When you're in a tent you have to rely on very little space for your stuff, and putting your dirty clothes back into your travel bag makes all your clean clothes nasty. Especially cause your dirty clothes aren't just normal dirty, they're camping dirty. So yeah, plastic bag em. (Maybe have an even separate small bag for the shower shoes, ew)

Then of course there's toiletries like toothbrush, hairbrush, other bathroom necessities. You have to remember that when camping, nothing is provided. No hotel shampoos or anything haha.

Bring toilet paper. The bathrooms there will have it but it's just a great precaution.

    Also don't forget a washcloth.

    Bugg off

    Sunscreen

haha bring a handheld fan? If possible. I would.

Bring a deck of cards or a board game or some group activity to do if there is spare time so you don't get terribly bored, but still can interact with people.

If there's a way you and your friend can take a bike or roller blades or something you should do that too. If you're into that. One year I went camping with my friend's family and a lot of the time her and I spent there together was taking our bikes and riding them on adventures. Haha we rode to like.. the camp store and bought drinks and it was fun. It was so.. pointless, but it passed a lot of time and it was something to laugh about later.

You should also take a book, or notebook or something personal to do, and a flashlight. I mean if you have an old walkman or something with batteries you should take than and a couple extra AAs

Another good idea is to bring a small bookbag or something so that when you're going to be away from the campsite you can carry some waterbottles or whatever else you need. If you guys plan on taking a hike or something.

I hope you have fun on your trip, and that my packing tips are helpful =)

  2. It's important to pack light so just pack the essentials. I highly suggest TISSUE PAPER, a bag for your garbage, blanket. Check this site out. They have traveling tips. it might help. socialtravellersite (dotcom)

  3. bug repellent... something warm to sleep in.

comfortable shoes. Ones that cover your whole foot. like tenny shoes..

    a flash light. toilet paper.

the usual, sleeping bag, pillow.. bring an extra blanket in case it is cold at night

    a battery operated radio.

  4. Besides the obvious a sleeping bag and a tent you should bring: Mosquito repellent, flashlight, day back pack, sun block, 9mm, pull over sweater, hiking shoes or good shoes to hike in, .44 Magnum, good socks, small first aid kit and a snake bite kit if you're in that kind of country that have snakes.

  5. Get a twin size air bed to put your sleeping bag on, if its going to be for a whole week.  Found in most sporting goods sections.  About 29.00

I second that post on .. toilet paper.  These places always run out.

Bring paper towels, plastic forks, spoons,  BIG COOLER w/ lots of ice.

    SALT

I always bring a cannister of "Wet Ones"  if there is no plumbing.  Just to wipe my hands/face off in the summer.

  6. a twelve pack of beers and pot. I can guarentee you will have fun with that stuff.
