  1. Get some cardboard boxes and wrap them up in wrapping paper. It's completely easy and cheap, and she'll have a blast opening them. She's only 1, she doesn't really need any toys anyway.

  2. Fridge Phonics, my son got them for his first and LOVES them! now almost 2 he plays with them every day, and we have a friend with a 4 year old who still plays with hers.

  3. We bought our little girl a piggy bank, 6 books, 2 outfits, and several educational toys.  She loves them all!

  4. fun and educational toys, let her brain be stimulated, it will help her a lot later in life

educational can be fun, and in fact often are a lot more fun as a challenge then non educational ones. Get puting box's, puzles, books with animals which you can look in and point to the animals using the words, maybe push a button to make the sound of the animals. From what i seen, given a choise kids prefer toys who are well usable and not just meaningless

you can get duplo  for instance that she can use to build with - its like big lego just like 10 times bigger in size and ment for small kids - its very fun building towers to crash later, comes in colors etc

that kids dont enjoy toys is just nonsence, all the kids in my fam is grown up on educational toys, and would choose those simple fun challenging toys over the nonsence toys all the time. All of them learned everything early and do quite well in school. Smartness can be thougth through allowing kids to develop their brain through activation induced by challenges.

  6. It may sound stupid, but bonds are great.  Now that I am in college the extra money that matured is coming in handy for tuition.

  7. I'd say get her maybe 2 shirts, 2 skirts or pants, a pair of shoes, and fun&educational toys! But little girls love dolls, so get her a nice doll that holds up well. Nothing with small pieces, though, you don't want her to choke!

  8. one year olds will be happy with a big  empty box to play in!!

dont waste a lot of money on stupid thing, they wont/cant appreciate things yet..go with a pretty wrapped large box(something she can climb in and out of) ...... and have a camcorder ready !!

    serious!!
