  1. Children at that age don't really have the ability to fully appreciate a gift...at least not like an adult does. She may enjoy whatever you get her but it will probably not be something years down the road that she will say "I'm so glad you got me this" about.

I am not sure what your 25 equates to in American dollars or even where you are but do you have any zoos or carnivals/circuses where you're at? Do you have a movie theater that shows children's movies? Maybe take her to see a movie, get some popcorn and candy, and then take a walk in a park somewhere and ask her what her favorite parts were.

Sometimes the best things are just time together. I was a nanny for several different families for 12 years and know from experience that, often, all they want is for someone to be with them, to have fun with them, to let them be a kid and to laugh and be goofy and to listen to their thoughts, no matter how off the wall or confusing to us they may be. ;-)

Maybe even make it on a day or night when you're not actually being paid by the parents so the child doesn't feel like you are doing it because you have to. Set it up with the parents to where you come and pick her up and take her out.

If you're not allowed to take her out - I've watched a few a those myself - rent or borrow some movies and do a movie night at her house. Popcorn can be microwaved. Candy can be bought at the store. And you'll probably be more comfortable anyway!

  2. You could get her a piggy bank that she can paint or other kid ceramics, a gift certificate to Chucky Cheese, zoo, or  any place that she likes to go.

  3. How about a movie? My dd loves anything girly, princesses, mermaids. Disney movies are always great, Homeward Bound. Coloring book and crayons, bubbles.I got my dd a bubble wand for her birthday. Constuction paper for drawing and making things. Jewelry, pretty ribbons or barrettes.

  4. books are good, since shes 4 she'll be learning to read soon.

arts and crafts kits.  i take it u dont live in the United States, but here we have these craft kits, like create your own paper flowers kits, or create your own bracelet kits.

  5. Try taking her on an outing to somewhere such as a playbarn. Or buy her something (that comes in a kit) that she can customise herself, such as mugs, plates, bowls, handprints, t-shirts etc.

Dolls are always a big hit with little girls, as are prams and anything princess related - think disney's mulan, cinderella, belle, aurora etc. including crowns, dressing up, wands, shoes, hair things... I'm sure whatever you buy she will appreciate. xx
