  1. saddle, saddle pad, bounce pad, bridle, propper riding clothes ( breeches, boots, etc. [if not owned already] ), grooming kit, fly spray, the numbers and references of a good vet and farrier, obviously a good stable to ride at, a toy to keep the horse occupied, halter, lead rope, boots for the horse (if needed), if you are showing (which i highly reccomend....) show coat, tan breeches, tall boots, HELMET.

Chances are you have some of this already.... but i suggested what i could think of.

Congratulations on your new horse! you are so lucky

  2. This is a link that will teach you the basics:

    http://books.google.ie/books?id=vSBwbz7F...

  3. http://www.horsechannel.com/horse-breeds...

  4. Grooming supplies: Fly spray, brushes, hoof pick, etc.  Tack: Saddle, girth, bridle, right kind of bit, martingale/breastcollar if you need it.  General stuff: Halter, leads, wormer if you haven't already done it.

All I can think of off the top of my head, supplies wise.  But I recommend buying a tennessee walker!  I have five of them.

  5. Don't get tied up in breeds and colours - find a horse that is suitable for you and your needs, many of these are "mixed breeds" or cobs. As for your equipment, I have a booklet "The Beginner's Guide To Riding and Horse Care" and it has a section on buyin your first horse. If you email me your email address then I'll attach it and send you it. :-)

  6. Hi. well for my first horse, i just bought a horse. hehe. i was 6yrs, and its a shetty, i still have her, i used to hop on her in the paddock and ride her, she went under fences sometimes lol.

some things you would need are:

Halter, Bridle, Saddle pad, Rope, Baleing twine (for tyeing it up, so it dosn't hurt its self if it cant break free), saddle, helmet, hoofpick, grooming tools, a good place to hold it, like a paddock with the fence not broken, etc. most people say you need a stall, you dont /need/ one, i dont have one, and i breed and break in horses, we just made a little shed like thing, we put the horse in there at night, incase a dingo comes and bites the foal. hope that helped lol

  7. Halter & lead rope, headstall/bridle with reins, saddle, saddle pad/blanket, brushes, curry comb, mane & tail comb, sponges, shampoo, fly spray, hoof pick, & a couple of good buckets. That should do for starters!

  8. the horse....bucket (feed and water), food, saddle, bridle, grooming kit, broom and fork, head collar, lead rope, rugs, bedding, hay, hay net... must be more but i cant think at the moment, thats your basics anyway

  9. Our first horse was a quarter horse. She is nice and laid back, and is easily riden.

  10. Halter

    Lead rope

    Grooming Kit

    Saddle

    Bridle

    Numna

    Turn out rug

    Water bucket

    Feed bucket

    Wheel barrow

    Fork

I think thats the main things but you might need some other stuff depending on the e.g boots or a stable rug etc.

  11. Blanket (If you are going to blanket it in the winter)

    Fly sheet

    Fly spray

    Vet wrap

    Stethoscope

    Feed Buckets

Extra lead ropes (I lose mine all the time!)

    Bandamiene (sic)(For colic)

    A good vet!

    A good fairer!

    Gauss

    First aid kit

  12. Well first I would go onto agdirect.com. they have a hole bunch of horses for sale in all of the states. I would personaly search for a horse with a temperment of 1-3. A kind of horse i would recomend is a Quarter Horse. they tend to have a very nice temperment and a wonderful personality. That way it wont be such a hasle trying to make it behave. I would also try to find a trainer in your area. It may be pretty spendy but in the end you will be so thankful that you did that.

Check List: Cury brush, stiff brissle brush, soft brissle brush, mane and tale brush, halter, lead rope, carrott stick, bridal,

bit(have the people at the store tell you what one), saddle, saddle pad, saddle blanket, fly spray, hoof pick, blankets(during the cold months) That is about all that i can think of now. i hope that this helped you out. :]
