Ok, I'm a bit annoyed at my parents right.

You see my dog has been scratching for quite a while. I told my parents "He has flees" lots of times and my parents always disagree with me saying "No he doesn't have fleas he's got a new flea collar he doesn't"

Today my dad found out my dog has fleas. (Not like I told them or anything) Well anyway my question is Is their anything I can do to treat my dogs from fleas? Do I need to go to the vet to get a medicated bath or something to kill them off?

  1. One of the greatest inventions man has ever discovered is the relatively new flea killer which takes only a few drops on the dog's neck and back.  It not only kills the fleas on the dog, but all the fleas in the house.  It's available in most drugstores, or your veterinarian, or online.

  2. Flea collar are ok but do not get rid of all the fleas on a dog or any other animal. I have two dogs and a cat and the only thing that seems to work is front line. But if you dog has fleas you should consider defleaing your home as they will only come back. You can get front line from any vets and pet shops do not sell them.

  3. there are drops you can get from a vet that are much better then frontline, but they only can be bought at a vet office, otherwise get frontline, below is a link of some good products

  4. I am afraid that flea collars do not work, bathing shampoos that you buy from the local pet shop just make your dog have very shiny and clean fleas, I would take your dog to the vets, get a strong medication to kill them off and then buy a household spray for your carpets and skirting boards, it will keep the fleas away for 12 months as the eggs can lay in a sort of hibernation state, then when it is warm, they can hatch and re infest your dog again, ensure you put all bed sheets, dog beds and blankets ets on a hot wash!!  hope this helps x

  5. Your best using Frontline plus, protects against fleas and ticks.

The best product I've ever used.

You can buy it from the vets, but you can also buy it in some pet stores now.

The box states which you need for the weight of your dog.

  6. Flea collars are ok to a point but you need to get a product like Frontline and treat him regularly.  These products are easy to apply and widely available.

  7. Unless your dog gets regular flea treatment, chances are he will catch fleas.  There are flea collars or drops like Frontline mentioned here.  Much depends on where you live, like is your dog a city dog with not much contact with the local wildlife. We live in the mountains so they are exposed to rabbit, fox, sheep and goat ticks and need a collar and frontline together.  Ask your local vet for advice and tell your parents that your dog needs regular flea treatment.

  8. go to your vet and get frontline plus. its a simple spot on on the back of the neck once a month. and get rid of the flea collar, as you can see they do not work, and some dogs are allergic to them and if they eat them it can make then extremely sick.
