I have 5 kids (13, 6, 4, 3, and 1). The 3 and 4 year old started school this Monday (they go Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Then the 13 and 6 year old started school Thursday. Today was goin to be my first day with everyone out BUT......

My brother-in-law's mother had a stroke 3 months ago. His mother lives 2 hours away. My sister and he husband went to visit her right and left his kids (7, 7, 5, 3, 14 months) with me for a week. Everything was going well, but now the doctors are worried. My sister and her husband are going down there. The kids can't miss school (it JUST started). They are now staying with me!

The kids and their things were dropped off at my home at 7:00am today. We fed them, brushed their teeth, and my husband made the rounds dropping them off at their school/bus stop. My neighbor asked if she could take the kids 2 kids home with me to the park.

Since 12:00 I've:

- put clean sheets on everyones bed

- steamed all the kids clothes and organized them

- made dinner for today, tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and froze it

Anything else I can do to get ready? My neighbor kept them for lunch and a nap (I know I love her) and then is bringing them over when they wake up.

  1. Sounds like you are the perfect MOMMY and have everything under controll i giver props to you :) I can't think of anything

  2. I think the only thing left for you to do is to use this time to relax! wow you have a lot on your plate but are pretty much covered unless you need to go to the grocery store or some other errands. good luck

  3. Sounds like you are pretty organized and BRAVE taking on so many kids at once..lol I would loose my mind.

  4. Well, I would pick all those clothes for a week. An outfit for each child per day and hang them up by date. Swing socks, bra's and panties over each hanger with each outfit, too.

Plan on simple breakfasts like cereal and piece of fruit and orange juice. Pre-make coffee at night so you don't have to do that in the mornings.

Set up a baby changing station area, a play area (toys cannot leave that area and must be cleaned when done), a tv schedule, a shower schedule. They may have to take showers every other day instead of daily so there will be enough water. Rotate the kids on a schedule.

get a chore chart out and start assigning duties by date. Folding laundry, loading or unloading dishwasher. Wiping kitchen down, wiping bathroom sinks down, vacuuming etc. You'll have plenty more housework anyway during the day.
