What to do? Client passed away today with $100 owing.

I have posted earlier tonight regarding my lovely eldery client who passed away today. Going to miss her so much!

As a professional dog walker, my sub-contractor has been walking her dog for the last few weeks as I have been unable to work due to drivers license issues.

Due to not working, I have a tiny minimal income coming in from the profit of my sub-contractor. Its just so minimal it hardly amounts to anything. And I currently have about $10 in my bank account. Literally

So the money I would have collected from my client who passed, would have gone directly to my sub-contractor. Its technically his money.

Should I have been working and had a income, I wouldn't even bat a eye lid at this $100 that was owing. As I cared for her very much and I would have happily paid the $100 out of my own wallet to my sub-contactor, and I wouldn't be as petty to obtain this $100 from the executors of the estate.

Although I don't have any money to cover this payment to my sub-contactor. And my sub contract is owed for the work he has done, regardless of the situation.

What should I do???

  1. Forget, about it @ the earliest.

  2. You are not collecting any time soon.   You need to add your bill to the probate and wait it out, just like everyone else.

Hope that your contractor does not call the state labor board, you have to pay him regardless of your bills.

  3. Since you cared for and miss your elderly client, how about:

1). Telling your subcontractor that you would pay him when you can (seeing he did perform the job)?

or 2). Gentle relate the incident to the executor of your elderly client's estate and see what happens,

or 3). If the executor alleges there is no money to take care of your situation and the subcontractor makes a big deal about the issue (which he rightfully could), then simply tell the subcontractor that you do not have the money and cannot collect from the dead.
