What to do about Time Warner Cable switching the nation over to a new crappy Cable box?

Last week my family and I all woke up to a this new DVR system that Time Warner Cable switched us over too. We were all pretty outraged because the system has a number of problems. When you rewind on the DVR it doesn't send you to the spot you stop at when rewind and fastforward to unlike the other one, it doesn't have as many features and lost a lot of good features the old one had, It still has the bar across the screen at pause, etc. Anyway, my mom created a blog about it on our local News station's website. A lot of people are outraged about it from the messages she's getting back, however, my mom said a lot of them are talking about how they don't have the time to deal with Time Warner and hang on the phone waiting for a response for ours. Now, it seems like she is giving up? I was just wondering if anyone else has any ideas? She told me Time Warner is changing everyone in the country over at a certain time. It hasn't happened to everyone yet, but eventually will

  1. I have Time Warner and my cable box changed too last week. I've started to get used to it.

  2. I agree with the other answerer.  Dish Network and FiOS from Verizon are other good alternatives.

  3. Switch over to DirecTv. You will be very happy that you did. I'm a DirecTv customer for over 1.5 happy years, and great customer service. I dumped my crappy comcast services. I had digital cable and high speed inter net, the internet wasn't fast either, it was sllloooooooowwwwww. Which I had 2 dvrs all the channels the cable company had. I was paying $12 times two per month for two dvrs, around $125 for all my channels, and about $45 for the slow speed internet, plus all the rental fees that came with all the dvr boxes and the slow speed internet router, and rental for two remotes. So, I was paying around $205 per month just for internet and tv. After I switch to DirecTv and Verizon DSL, my satellite tv and Verizon internet ran me about $65 per month total and I got three times more channel with DirecTv than I did with comcast.

Not to mention I had all kids of problems dealing with the cable company, the tv picture would just freeze, and the guide on the digital cable said the wrong thing most of the time, It would say such and such movie is playing so I select to watch that channel just to find out it's a total different move or show then what the guide was telling me.

Again I do not have a single problem with DirecTv, once or twice the the picture froze for about a second or two but other than that, DirecTv is much better then the cable company...

Verizon DSL is much much faster then the cable slow speed internet. Not to mention, there were countless down times with comcast high speed internet. There was nothing wrong with my computers, but I would try to go on line with the cable internet and for some reason I could not get on line, that was the same for all of my computers. Again Verizon DSL, I don't have a single problem with my internet.

So, make the switch and you will be glad you did...
