What to do about a 6yr old child being neglected and abused.?

i have a friend that her stepdaughter is being neglected and abused by her mother. she leaves her alone at night while she goes to the bar. her 14 yr old brother is there but he has mental disorders. i really feel for this childs safety. the child even goes to school looking like she hasn't had washed clothes in days and her socks don't even match. i know her mom gets a lot of child support for this child and she never has new clothes.

You need to call child protective services. It will be anonymous.

**ETA**THey can NOT tell her where it came from. That is teh point of making the reports be anonymous. PLEASE call!

Tread very carefully. Speak to social services and tell them your concerned. I would be very, very concerned that this little girl is left in the care of her brother, who as you say, has mental disorders.

I would assume that you would be able to speak to the authorities with your identity protected.

Be strong and help this child out of what sounds like a very sad situation. (She can't do it herself).

I would tell the mom to change or you are going to do something about it. If she doesn't change call child protective services on her. The daughter deserves better than that.

Call Child Protective Services NOW! It is usually anonymous and you would never sleep well again if something terrible happened to that child.

PS: I wouldn't tell the friend, just do it!

Make an annonymous call. I used to be in that situation. It's really hard for this girl and probably the 14 yr old boy too, You have to wonder if she helped his mental disorders along with her drinking and God knows what else goes on in that house. Get them babies out of there.
