The police refuse to get involve! This woman I know, her 23 year old child recently completed a 4 year enlistment with the Navy and was expected to move back home. He moved in with his father (her ex-husband). Her ex-husband was not granted custody (in 1988). I believe her ex-husband picked him up in San Diego.

  1. emancipation is attained at 18 years of age in most states that I know of - hardly a child at the age of 23.  Police should never have been called.

  2. Your question is confusing but let me throw this out.  Single parents in the military who are active duty cannot be the custodial parent. They must sign away custody at the beginning of their service.  So you might not have all the facts to say he was kidnapped. If your actually talking about the child of a person getting out of the millitary.....

Now like i said your posting is NOT consise. In fact it reads this womans 23 yr old child got out of the military and moved in with HIS father after getting picked up in San Diego. If that is the case a 23yo is an adult and can live where ever he chooses.  I can't be sure what you really are trying to say. Use your words better because one can not answer vague questions accurately.

  3. You can not be charged with parental kidnapping when the child is 23 years old.

  4. Is this a joke?  So an adult wants to live with a parent...um, SO WHAT?  That is not a crime in the least.  You and your friends attempts to get the police involved are not only wasting their time but giving them a good laugh after they hang up the phone.  Custody ends at 18, when minors become ADULTS.

  5. No one is a child at 23. Or after 4 years in the Navy. He is an adult and can do what he wants when he wants.

The police arent involved because they are lauging their bumms off.

A father can't kidnap a 23 y/o that wants to live with him. This is a joke, right??
