Question:

What to do about facial hair (as a girl)?

Hello everyone!!! I noticed some months back (May to be specific) that I had two hairs on my beard area.I plucked them, naturally. Since then I've noticed another 4 or something. I was wondering, what causes this? Is it gonna worsen? What can I do about it?

P.S I'm under 18, so it's not my feminine hormones lessening.

Thanks for any info I can get :)

  1. It's kind of like eyebrow hair.

Sometimes one random dark hair pops up in places and all you can really do is pluck it out. Just make sure you get the root and there'll be no real reason to wax!

  2. wax it

  3. Ok so, being a girl around your age i know what you must feel like with facial hair, even though i dont have it on my chin!

So to tell you the truth about the reason for it, there probably isnt a specific one. Most of the time its because of genetics ( i know it sucks) or because your body has too much of the male hormone (androgen) which you can do nothing about. if you wanna see some of the other RARE causes for it go to the first link under sources.

Now for solutions, i would DEFINITELY recommend going for Laser treatments. It will be pricey, but trust me its completely worth it and definitely safe as long as they have the correct equipment for your skin type. im very light skinned so when i first started i made sure they had the proper machine or i would be left with brown spots from the laser.

i recommend this solution because it will get rid of the hair FOREVER. ofcourse depending on the severity of the hair on your chin, you may need more than one treatment. You basically go once a month most likely if not less. When you go for a consultation they will tell you everything you need to know. and it doesnt hurt at all trust me! keep in mind laser treatment and electrolysis are COMPLETELY different (i dont know much about electrolysis but it is an option)

Another option would be to wax it, again depending where you go it will cost $$ but again it doesnt hurt, if anything its like taking off a band-aid and in 10 seconds your probably finished

Plucking is just not a favorable option because you arent really plucking the hair out of the root, and it will come back again and there will most likely be more hair. Not to mention you will probably be plucking regularly like a comment above said

on the website below it also gives the option for Bleaching and shaving. I dont agree with bleaching because if the hair is long it being bleached wouldnt really help. Shaving is probably the WORST option ever i really dont recommend it.

another solution on the website is weight loss- in overweight women, weight loss can decrease male hormone levels and reduce hair growth.

theres also the option of birth control, which the site says helps reduce hair growth. Now since im under 18 also i dont know much about birth control so definitely contact a doctor on that one.

GOOD LUCK and hope i helped!

  4. We all pluck and wax, but it could be a symptom of something else. mention it to your doctor the next time you see him/her.

  5. idk..

I just think your gonna need to buy those wax strips reguarly...

    It sucks, I know.

    But we can't be perfect..

  6. I get that toooo.

PLucking is easiest, but if it gets worse, use wax/mention it to your doctor.

  7. Do not shave! This will make it worse!

now that tha's out of the way, often times it's just in your genetics, you may just have to pluck/wax regularly.
