For some reason my 3 month old kitten loves to sleep on the computer chair.I think its because of the soft pillow thats on the chair.I only had her 4 days but she been doin this for the last 2 days. When me and my girlfriend are on the computer she will look at us and meow and also put her paws on us.A few times she even jumped in my lap.I let her sleep a few times on my lap.

I actually have her sleeping in my lap now.I tried putting a pillow on the floor but she paid it no mind.guess she loves the computer chair lol.

Why is she doing this?is there anyway I can break her out this habit

  1. All cat owners know... they don't own the cat. The cat owns ALL.

  2. My Cats does this too they want always sleep on computer chair with soft pillows on it or ontope of the computer.there no way of breaking this habit unless you push her off when you want to use the computer man.cats are the lazyist animals in the world.

  3. My cat does this, too. It doesn't bother me, though. I just push him out when I want to sit there- show him who's boss. You could get her a cat bed & some catnip or cat treats to put in it. When she meows at you distrct her w/ a toy or something.

  4. So what--she like the computer chair...maybe you should put the computer chair NEXT to the computer, and then use another chair at the computer.  Or you could put tacks or spikes in the computer chair so when it jumps up there, it should learn rather quickly: spikes are not comfortable.

  5. Is there a problem with a kitten sleeping in your lap? Cats will sleep on the clothing you leave on your bed, because they like your smell, it's affection. Your kitten might like the smell of the chair/you, or just like the chair. My cats have very specific places they like to sleep too. You could try offering something more inviting: fleece blanket is a good one. If the chair is the place to be, put the blanket on the chair to keep the hair off. As far as her meowing and pawing, she wants your lovin'. She wants to sleep in your lap - don't forget she's still a baby.

  6. Dude, that's her spot now...You got a cat, cats rule...

  7. Do NOT use tacks or spikes of any kind - that is criminal abuse.

If you really can't share the chair with the cat or offer her your lap (don't see the problem here but ok) then try the double-sided tape by Sticky Paws - you can get it at Petco or PetSmart.

But I say get used to the kitten's affection.  It's a good thing.
