What to do about mould and an indoor slug invasion?

Hi,

I live in a very damp ground floor flat and its a total nightmare! First just dampness, then mould growing in places such as the back of cupboards where we cant get to to clean, now a slug invasion! Have bought a dehumidifier and open the windows but nothing seems to help-it just gets worse! The smell is awful and I still have to live here for another 4 months. I am not from the UK so have never experienced anything like this; it seems to be quite common here?

I have tried getting the slugs with salt but it doesnt seem to help. Does anyone know of a safe product for slugs you can use indoors? Im freaking out that I'll wake up with slugs in my bed..eeew!

If anyone could offer some tips on how to rid mould and slugs, I'd really appreciate it ;)

Thanks

  2. Have some self respect and MOVE OUT!

  3. Get a couple of toads or frogs they like slugs!...or sprinkle some sand around the outside of youre property?...they dont like sand on their single foot...and it won't affect the other friendly creatures...

  4. In the meantime put some slugs pellets down around the edges of the infected parts of the flat. Telephone the environmental health department of your local council. It is your landlords responsibility to have the property damp-proofed to bring it to an inhabitable condition for humans. This problem only occurs in very old neglected properties owned by unscrupulous landlords. The mould will be there as long as the flat is damp, there is no way that you can cure it on your own. If the landlord is as bad as he seems then go to the local press and expose him.

  5. Don't know who told you its common in the UK - maybe if you live in a slum.  You need to get in touch with your landlord - nobody should be living in these conditions.  Also go to the Citizens Advice Bureau and seek their advice.  Maybe you don't have to stay.

  6. Pour lots of bowls of milk and put them around the floor. The next day there should be lots of dead slugs in the bowl. What happens is:

They drink the milk, and they drink and drink. Then they get too fat to climb out and just die.

    Or use slug pellet.
