Question:

What to do about overtime?

My boss is pressuring us to work too much overtime. I worked 6 hours overtime last week and 6 this week. I know it's little, but he wants us to come in for a full 8 hour days on saturday AND sunday. Is that not the most rediculous c**p you've ever heard? I'm not a f***g robot, but I'm scared to refuse. What if I get fired for not coming?

  1. Your response to your boss should be simple, "I cant" or use a very VAGUE explanation.  Do NOT reveal why with details.  Its not his/her business.  Besides, pushy people who hear "no" just argue and wittle away at you till they get a "yes".  Maybe try an answer with something that cannot be changed like "I have to pick up a family member from the airport" "I have tickets to a scrabble tournament out of town" (j/k) but you get my drift.  Smile, say you cant this time and look away.  DONT wait for his reply.  And DONT act apologetic.  Just be courteous in your response.  Pushy people get you at your hesitation so DONT hesitate.
