What to do about this dead tooth and no money?

About 3 years ago a quarter of my far left rear tooth broke off and I never had the money to fix it so I left it...it's been fine, just can't swish ice water around my mouth. Today the other half of that quarter broke off......will it be okay to just leave again? I mean, I'd rather not but I don't have the money to go to the dentist for a checkup let alone a surgical root canal.

  1. No.. You may not be really lucky this time too. It could cause an infectiona nd you could end up having a swelling.. Treating that is expensive and let me not tell you about the agony you would be going thru. It would be h**l.. You rather go to some college and hospital and get the tooth removed instead of waiting for trouble !

  2. I've had this happen on a couple of teeth (when you have the same cavity for 13 years it happens).  You have to watch it.  If there is any swelling around the tooth (especially the roof of the mouth) you need to go to a doctor, it's most likely an abscess and if it bursts it will make you really sick!  You also may want to check your local dentist association for free or low cost dental assistance.  If you live in Texas however, there really is none other than the dental schools.  If you're like me and can only go on the weekend, then that will not work.
