Can I dig up the bulbs right now or should I wait till frost?

Should I keep most of the leaves or can I chop them down?

  1. Don't dig Them up. Leave Them where They are. unless You want to separate the bulbs to get more.  Wait until the stalk turns brown to cut it down. It needs to re-energize.   They will come back next Year, You don't need to store Them . I live in zone 7.

  2. After they've bloomed its important to leave the stalk to die back naturally - it provides the nutrients to support its next blooms.  Same with the foliage.  If it doesn't die back on its own, don't allow it to bloom next year.  It's a good idea to dress it with mulch and manure when the ground freezes.

You can plant it any time, except if the ground is actually frozen solid!
