Well, I'm going to Veitnam, Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City in about 2 days. I was wondering what should I do on yhe plane ride, 18 hours total. What else should I bring? How should I act there?Yes, I'm Vietnamese ,but I want input on how others act. I havent been there in a couple of years. Oh yes and it's my first flight. Oh and I'm wondering what are good places to go (yes I know I should know where to visit ,but mother never tells me the good places). What beaches/amusment parks/water parks/fun things to do. Sorry for my long questions.

  1. im actually going to Saigon in about 10 hours (first time). but i heard that no matter how you present yourself the locals will immediately recognize you as Viet Kieu or overseas Viet. im going to the beach at Nha Trang because even people living there say Phan Thiet and Mui Ne is too hot. #1 on my list of things to do is EAT. there are so many foods not available in the US. but you also have to be careful not to eat any raw greens because of bacteria.

  2. Sorry 'cause I'm living in Hanoi actually. But basically the culture of regions in Vietnam just a little diffirent because both of us speak Vietnamese. If you can speak Vietnam, it will be much more easier for you because you can ask people there directly. However, the young people can speak English so when you meet someone, just ask them for help. With only 2 days, it seems to be enough because in my opinion HCM City is not really a nice place to travel because only several interesting places there. However, you can try Vietnamese food, go to Nha Trang (beach) if you have time (it's another province actually but the beach is really cool). For other stuffs, it's better to ask someone living there ^_^
