Question:

What to do for a near freshman with no goals?

You know how they say that most kids don't have a clue about what they want to be when they grow up?

Well, imagine that times ten.

I've never been in love with a sport, never found a serious passion, and never even came up with a dream job or goal that lasted more than a year. And, now, as I'm about to hit high school as a freshman, I'm getting concerned.

I've come up with a few ideas about what i want from life, and the areas upon which I wish to focus my studies, but I feel as though I don't know myself or what I want.

Should I be worried about my academice future? Are these things I should know? How do I learn about myself? And how do I establish my goals?

Any & allll help would be appreciated, thanks so much.

  1. Well what do you do in your spare time?

Do you hang out with friends?

    Or watch tv?

    Or read?

If you enjoy hanging out with friends, look for a job that requires some sort of interaction between you and others. Possibly a teacher.

Watch tv? What channels do you watch? If you watch stuff like the cooking channel and Animal Planet, you can try learning about the stuff you watch on television.

Also, force yourself to do some activities. You never know whether you'll like something until you A) try it or B) do research on it.

Since you don't know what to research, try going into some extra-curricular activities at your school. Join the band. Play soccer. Or you can join some clubs. Examples: FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Pure Helpers, Science Olympiad, Mathletes, or Model UN.

Just put yourself out there and be open to new ideas.

  2. Don't worry about it... i had no idea what I was going to do when I was in high school. You are way to young to even be concerned. As you get older you will have a better idea about what interests you. I'm sure it wont make you feel better but most people that go to college don't do anything that relates to their degree. But seriously don't worry about it... you will find something that interests you and just follow that. The most interesting people you will meet don't know what they wanna do.

  3. Most people don't know what they want to do.

I say you should try out different subjects!

Don't give up too fast on them!

    =)

  4. don't worry your only a freshman. You will know by 11th grade or so. Until then relax and enjoyy
